Born in Fukuoka, Japan. Grew up in Hyogo. Hikari began playing the Tsugaru shamisen at the age of 9, influenced by her grandmother. She studied under the late Toyoaki Fukushi and the second-generation Unchiku Narita.

Born in Aichi, Japan. At the age of 14, Kanami was inspired to start playing the Tsugaru shamisen after being moved by a performance by Master Shimera Kamiya at her school event. She studied the Tsugaru shamisen under Master Shimera Kamiya and Tsugaru folk songs under the late Toyoaki Fukushi and the second-generation Unchiku Narita.
